Strategic infrastructure
Expansion and Modernization
The expansion and modernization works of Concordia's "Comodoro J.J. Pierrestegui" Airport constitute a strategic infrastructure project financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The project included extending the runway from 1,600 to 2,000 meters, building a new 1,850 m² passenger terminal, a control tower, an office building for airport agencies, and spaces for the Airport Security Police and the Rescue and Fire Control Service.
New service and technology areas were added: lighting and beacon systems, parking, technical rooms, a fuel plant, a weather station, and improvements to the water supply and effluent treatment networks.
Concordia is thus consolidated as the air gateway to the binational Salto Grande region, expanding opportunities for tourism and commercial and productive development.
