A century caring for Concordia's water
On November 2, 1919, the construction and operation of the city's sanitation works was agreed upon. The concession passed in 1928 to the Compañía Nacional de Saneamiento and, later, to Obras Sanitarias de la Nación.
Since 1980 the City has been in charge of the service (Law 6643, Decree 4079/80) and, in the early 1990s, established it as the Decentralized Sanitation Works Authority (EDOS), an autonomous agency responsible for drinking water and sewers in Concordia.
The San Carlos Water Treatment Plant operates with two modules (1917 and 1970) and a combined capacity of 2,800 m³/h. An in-house laboratory runs three daily tests — physicochemical and bacteriological — and 25 wells supply the neighborhoods farthest from the plant.
