With a significant public presence, this Saturday night the Concordia 2026 Carnival began, the most popular open-air show in the country. The “Atanasio Bonfiglio” Corsódromo was the stage for the opening night of a new edition that promises six days of brilliance, music, and emotion.
After months of preparation, rehearsals, and joint work, the comparsas Bella Samba, Imperio, Ráfaga, and Emperatriz displayed all their art on the track, officially inaugurating one of the most important popular festivals in Argentina.
The traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the vice-mayor of Concordia, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza; the Government Secretary of the Municipality of Concordia, Dr. Luciano Dell Olio; the Secretary of Productive Development, Federico Schattenhofer; the Director of the Permanent Carnival Entity, Dr. Luis Sánchez; undersecretaries, provincial senator Gloria Liliana Cozzi; council members, and the 2025 Queen of the Concordia Carnival and Provincial Representative of the Entre Ríos Carnival, Yanella Aldecoa, institutional representatives, and special guests.
During the inaugural act, the Government Secretary, Dr. Luciano Dell Olio, highlighted the relevance of the Carnival for the city: “The Concordia Carnival is one of the most important cultural expressions we have. It is a festival that brings together residents and tourists, generates identity and economic movement, and reflects the enormous work of the comparsas and those who make this show possible.”
In this context, the vice-mayor of Concordia, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, underscored the cultural and social value of the event: “The Carnival of our city is a cultural manifestation that is part of our identity as a city. Behind every night there are months of work, effort, and commitment from hundreds of people who make this show possible.”
Likewise, she highlighted the public's support on the opening day: “Seeing the Corsódromo filled with families, residents, and tourists reaffirms the importance of continuing to strengthen our popular festivals, which generate gathering, tourism, and development for Concordia.”
The Director of the Permanent Carnival Entity, Dr. Luis Sánchez, highlighted the development of the opening night: “It was a very positive first night, with great support from the public and a very high artistic level from the four comparsas. This is the result of the work carried out throughout the year.”
For her part, Yanella Aldecoa, 2025 Queen of the Concordia Carnival and Provincial Representative of the Entre Ríos Carnival, celebrated the start of the new edition: “The Concordia Carnival is a cultural expression that identifies us. Accompanying this opening and seeing so many families, residents, and tourists enjoying the show is a huge emotion.”
THE PASSION OF THE COMPARSAS
The first night, corresponding to Saturday, January 24, featured the four local comparsas, which paraded before an audience that accompanied them with enthusiasm throughout the evening.
The parade was opened by Bella Samba, with “Sangre de la Tierra: Vino a ser Historia, Vino a ser Carnaval”, a performance loaded with symbolism and celebration.
Then it was the turn of Imperio, which presented “El Legado Maneco”, a proposal that vindicates the Afro-Entre Ríos memory and the contribution of the black community to the local identity.
In third place, Ráfaga paraded with “La Magia Universal”, a performance inspired by the cosmos and universal energy.
The closing was in charge of Emperatriz, the last champion of the Concordia Carnival, which presented “Argentina: El viaje del Sol”, an allegory that toured the country's landscapes, traditions, and emotions.
During the opening night, “Verte Bailar” was performed live by Los Docentes, the official theme of the Concordia Carnival, which accompanied the festive atmosphere and was celebrated by the public present.
The Concordia 2026 Carnival will continue next Saturday, January 31, where Emperatriz, Bella Samba, Imperio, and Ráfaga will once again set the highest standard for the most passionate festival in the country.
