This Friday, the second edition of the Provincial Book Fair began in Concordia, with the participation of more than 100 publishing houses, writers, bookstores, and cultural figures. The Minister of Government and Labor, Manuel Troncoso, toured the stands and delivered a donation of more than 100 books from Editorial Caleta Olivia for the city's Popular Libraries.
"We felt it was unfair that a province so rich in literature did not have its own book fair, and we decided to create it. We thought of Concordia and discussed it with Francisco Azcué, who immediately made his entire team available," stated Troncoso. He added: "The Fair is a provincial initiative, but it would be impossible without the Municipality: when the province and the municipality work side by side, beautiful events like this one emerge. With the support of Governor Rogelio Frigerio, we are already on our second edition, and we continue to bet on culture as a space for encounter, identity, and recognition of others."
The minister also highlighted the productive dimension of the publishing activity. "Behind every publication there are writers, editors, designers, printers, distributors, and booksellers. Strengthening the publishing sector is strengthening production and work in our province," he affirmed. In that sense, he maintained: "We want the Provincial Book Fair to transcend in the region as a source of work and development."
For his part, the mayor of Concordia, Francisco Azcué, thanked the provincial government for holding the Fair in the city. "Thank you for the commitment you have for our city," he expressed. Furthermore, he highlighted the joint work and stated: "We feel honored and we reaffirm this commitment we have to education, to reading, and to a present state."
The Secretary of Culture of Entre Ríos, Julián Stopello, underscored the importance of the Fair as a space for promoting editorial production and local authors. "It is about consolidating an idea of a large-scale Provincial Fair, which serves as an important showcase for the publishing houses of the province of Entre Ríos and its writers," he affirmed. He also highlighted the commitment of the provincial government, the Municipality of Concordia, and the Argentine Delegation of Salto Grande, among other entities that contributed to the development of this second edition.
Present were the vice-mayor and president of the Deliberative Council of Concordia, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza; the Secretary of Human Development Carlos Gatto; the member of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Commission for the Special Fund of Salto Grande (Cafesg), Martín Dri; the Argentine delegate to the Mixed Technical Commission of Salto Grande, Guillermo Marcone; the writer and member of the Autores de Concordia group, Fernando Belottini; among other officials, councilors, writers, and the general public.
