With a 78% hotel occupancy rate during the last long holiday weekend of May 25th, Concordia once again consolidated itself as one of the most chosen tourist destinations in the Argentine Litoral. The result becomes even more relevant considering that this month had two long weekends, maintaining high demand and even exceeding the 72% recorded during the previous holiday.
According to data collected by the Tourism Observatory of the Undersecretariat of Tourism, between Friday, May 22nd and Monday, May 25th, the largest flow of visitors came from Buenos Aires —province and Federal Capital— representing 47% of the total. In second place were different cities in Entre Ríos with 36%, while Santa Fe, Corrientes, and Chubut together contributed 12%. In addition, 5% of tourists arrived from Salto, Uruguay, reaffirming the regional and international profile of the destination.
The main reason for the trip was leisure, relaxation, and recreation, reflecting Concordia's positioning as an ideal city for getaways and rest. When planning the visit, recommendations from others were the main source of information, followed by social media, highlighting the importance of experience and digital promotion in choosing the destination.
The tourist movement also generated a significant economic impact: the average expenditure per visitor was $92,500, reaching an estimated income of $991,071,751 for the city, figures that strengthen tourism as one of the engines of the local economy.
GREAT LOCAL AND TOURIST PARTICIPATION IN EVERY PROPOSAL
The activities organized by the Undersecretariat of Tourism and the Mixed Tourism Entity of Concordia (EMCONTUR) during the long weekend had outstanding participation from both tourists and residents of Concordia, consolidating an agenda that combined recreation, history, culture, and nature.
The “Patriotic Kite Flying”, the activities developed at the Castillo San Carlos, the historical circuit at the Naranjal de Pereda, “Night Architecture”, the “Patriotic City Tour”, and the “Astrotourism” proposal together with El Palmar National Park, were part of the most popular initiatives of the weekend.
In that context, “Night Architecture” was the activity with the highest local presence, with 94% of attendees being from Concordia. For its part, the “Patriotic City Tour” presented the most tourist-oriented profile, with 50% of participants coming from Buenos Aires and 25% from Concordia. At the same time, Astrotourism at the Castillo San Carlos stood out for the diversity of attendees, with visitors from different provinces and even international participants from Uruguay and Colombia.
The activities organized by the Undersecretariat of Tourism and EMCONTUR during the long weekend reflected significant participation from tourists and residents of Concordia. Of the total attendees, 73.3% were made up of residents of Concordia and 26.7% by visitors from other cities and countries, reaffirming both the tourist appeal of the city and the support of the local community for each proposal.
