With rhythm and color, the Carnival is already being felt in our city. This weekend, Concordia will host the 1st Litoral Carnival Symposium and Expo, which will take place on December 2nd and 3rd at the Convention Center (former North Station), where various workshops will be held for all participants of the summer festival, featuring international guests. In addition, the Official Launch of the 2018 Carnival will take place.
Organized by the Carnival Entity of the Municipality of Concordia, the city is preparing for the first event that brings together carnival leaders from different Argentine provinces and neighboring countries. Sonia Albornos, coordinator of Cultural Workshops and Events for the municipality and Competition Coordinator of the Carnival Entity, noted that “we are eager to host this First Symposium, which promises to be successful. Registration for the workshops and the Samba Roda is already on sale, and many people from Concordia, Paraná, Gualeguay, Gualeguaychú, Corrientes, and Monte Caseros are already part of this great event.”
"The Carnival is a popular, cultural, artistic, and also tourist festival," noted Mayor Enrique Cresto. "Upon taking office, we recovered the Carnival as a festival organized by the State together with the comparsas. It is one of the main events that Concordia has during the summer, and our premise is that it consolidates itself as one of the best carnivals in the region by supporting the comparsas so they continue to grow. The realization of this Symposium puts our festival in the regional spotlight; it is an event that is added to the Annual Calendar of Events, generating more circulation and tourist promotion for Concordia," maintained the mayor.
SYMPOSIUM
“We will have workshops on Percussion, Samba, Feathering, Float Structures, Backpiece and Backpack Structures, among others. In addition, visitors will be able to tour the stands of the comparsas, businesses, and the food court. We are preparing so that everyone can feel comfortable this weekend,” indicated Sonia Albornos.
The cost of the workshops is $50, and participants will be able to access all workshops and be part of the Samba Roda. “We want all the members of the different comparsas that we have in our city and people from different places in the province to be part of the workshops.”
EXPO
On Saturday, starting at 3:00 PM, a Carnival Expo will be held with free admission, where visitors can visit the comparsas' stands. Two workshops will also be carried out that will provide creativity and new techniques to all those interested: Feathering Workshop with Ramón Ayala, a well-known designer from our city, and Float Structure Workshop with two leaders from Gualeguaychú.
On the other hand, at 2:00 PM, a meeting will be held with the aim of exchanging knowledge with directors of comparsas and organizers of carnival festivities from different places.
While on Sunday, two workshops will be taught with international guests: Percussion Workshop with Mestre Sombra, from São Paulo, and the Samba No Pe Workshop with Yolanda Reis from Rio de Janeiro.
The activities are open to the general public, and those interested can obtain more information through the Facebook page "Simposio Carnaval Concordia," where they can also inquire about the Carnival Photography Contest, which is currently open.
2018 CARNIVAL LAUNCH
On the same Saturday, at 10:00 PM and within the framework of the Litoral Carnival Symposium and Expo, the Official Launch of the 2018 Carnival will be held with the participation of the figures and comparsas that bring rhythm and color to one of the most popular events in the region.
