With a remarkable participation of residents and senior citizens, the informative talk “Cultivating life and experiences” was held, a proposal aimed at sharing knowledge and experiences related to the creation and care of organic vegetable gardens.
The meeting took place at the Villa Zorraquín Retirees Center, where participants were able to incorporate tools and recommendations to carry out their own vegetable gardens, promoting the cultivation of healthy food and the exchange of knowledge.
The training was led by Agronomist Engineer Gabriel Zubizarreta and was promoted by the Department of Policies for the Elderly, which reports to the Undersecretariat of Development and Entrepreneurship of the Municipality of Concordia.
In this regard, the head of the Department of Policies for the Elderly, Gladys Portugal, highlighted the importance of creating these spaces for meeting and learning: “We are very happy with the participation in this first session. The response from the senior citizens shows that there is great interest in learning, sharing experiences, and finding new tools that they can incorporate into their daily lives.”
In that sense, Portugal remarked that “the vegetable garden is not only about producing our own food, but also about meeting each other, sharing knowledge, and staying active. Each seedling we deliver also represents an opportunity to continue learning and cultivating new projects.”
The activity allowed for the creation of a space for meeting, learning, and participation, where each shared experience became a new opportunity to continue cultivating knowledge and healthy habits.
NEXT MEETING
The proposal will continue next Thursday, August 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Nuevo Milenium Retirees Center, located at 1351 Tala St. and República del Paraguay St.
During this new session, seedlings will be delivered and an advisory talk on organic vegetable gardens will be held, providing practical recommendations for those who want to start or strengthen their own crops.
“We want to continue bringing these proposals to different spaces in the city and have more and more people join in. The idea is for these meetings to become spaces for learning, participation, and meeting for our senior citizens,” Portugal pointed out.
The Municipality invites senior citizens and the interested community to participate in this new meeting, designed as a space to learn, share experiences, and continue promoting healthy eating and the bond with the land.
