The mayor Enrique Cresto led the central ceremonies for a new anniversary of the May Revolution and attended the Te Deum at the Cathedral of Concordia. The mayor made a call to uphold the principles preached by the men and women of 1810.
"May 25th was a great patriotic feat and one of the cries for freedom that began to emerge on the American continent," said Cresto, noting that "each of us must carry the permanent revolution as a banner, because this means changing paradigms."
"When the revolution stops, those who wield power for a few advance; that is why in our hearts there must be a constant revolution to generate actions that benefit the community," emphasized Cresto.
The Mayor stressed that what is needed today in politics is what Pope Francis preaches and which is summarized in the Pact of San Antonio de Padua, "where it is defined that State policies must generate actions that aim at social equality, addressing different problems and scourges."
For his part, the vice-mayor and president of the Deliberative Council Armando Gay recalled that there were men and women "who fought for their dreams in this Homeland, which is why the challenge is to bring those yearnings to reality, such as social inclusion and progress, issues that cannot be achieved if there are still excluded or oppressed people in a society where unity must persist."
EPIC AWAKENING
Professor Heriberto Pezzarini, Director of the Municipal Historical Archive and member of the Bicentennial Commission of the Crossing of the Andes, pointed out that "the people of May were not improvised" and were protagonists "of an epic awakening that surprised both locals and strangers. The May Revolution was characterized by its projection to different regions."
Already at the Te Deum, the Bishop of Concordia, Monsignor Luis Collazoul, stated that "the social life of a Nation reaches its development when we all work for the common good, setting aside personal advantages and seeking the benefit of others."
ATTENDEES
The Mayor and the Vice-mayor led the central ceremonies accompanied by their respective wives, Leticia Ponzinibbio and Bárbara Rajzner. Also present were the Secretary of Government Marcelo Benedetto; the Secretary of Public Works and Services Carlos Pasquet along with councilors Iván Alali, Magdalena Reta de Urquiza and Nicolás Moulins; provincial deputy Joaquín La Madrid; the president of the Argentine delegation of CTM Roberto Niez; members of the Municipal Executive, representatives of the General Council of Education, Malvinas Veterans and members of the Armed and Security Forces, in addition to Ceremonial Flags of different institutions, among others.
