Organizational aspects are being finalized for a weekend of pure carnival
The MOMO Group, responsible for the Tablado and the carnival activity held every year in Plaza Urquiza during the carnival holidays, met with Vice Mayor Armando Gay, the Secretary of Government and Tourism Alfredo Francolini, the President of the Carnival Entity Matias Soto, and councilman Sebastián Cuberli, general coordinator of the Carnival Entity, to finalize organizational aspects and received the financial contribution that allows them to sustain the organization of the event.
"We have been having several meetings with the MOMO Group throughout the year, sharing different criteria, taking into account that they organize the Popular Carnival in Plaza Urquiza," noted Matías Soto, President of the Carnival Entity. "We are fortunate that this weekend Concordia will experience Carnival in all its expressions, from Friday to Tuesday," he highlighted. He added that "from the municipality, by decision of the Mayor Cresto, we delivered a contribution so that certain expenses demanded by the organization of this activity can be covered."
On Friday, the carnival festivities will begin with the parade of the Pequeños Duendes at the Corsódromo, at 8:30 PM, with a solidarity entrance where a school supply donation is requested. On Saturday, the fourth night of the Carnival of Concordia will take place. Sunday will be the last parade of the Pequeños Duendes, also at the Corsódromo, while on Monday, in addition to the fifth night of the comparsas' procession at the "Atanasio Bonfiglio," the Tablado will be held in Plaza Urquiza.
"There will be different expressions, murga, candombe, songs, rock, theater," listed Diego Gimenez, a member of the MOMO Group. "We invite people to come with their chairs to Plaza Urquiza, on Monday, February 12, starting at 7:30 PM," he said. "And on Tuesday the 13th, the open parade will take place, from Plaza Urquiza to Plaza 25 de Mayo, along Urquiza street, to which we also invite people to settle on the sidewalks with their chairs to watch, but also to dress up and participate in the parade if they want," he invited. The parade will begin at 8:00 PM and "there will be more established groups, but also individual mask-wearers and residents who will dress up and express their happiness."
"We are celebrating 15 years of organizing this Popular Carnival of Joy. At the time, we started as a vindication to recover the carnival holiday, and today we continue to grow, because more and more people are coming," highlighted José Barrios, from MOMO. "We are very happy with the collaboration of the municipality and happy for another carnival," he said, inviting all residents to come on Monday and Tuesday to Plaza Urquiza to enjoy this free activity.
"It is a premise of Mayor Enrique Cresto to work, assist, and collaborate so that all expressions have the same possibilities," expressed the Vice Mayor and President of the Deliberative Council, Armando Gay, in charge of the Local Executive. "Murga and candombe are one of the essences of carnival," observed the interim mayor and highlighted that "that is why from the Carnival Entity and the Municipality, we made this contribution of funds for all sectors, strengthening the development of cultural activity and also events and proposals both for the people of Concordia and for the tourists who visit us this weekend," he stressed.
