Friday the 19th will be the opening night at the Costanera, with the first parade of the 2018 edition. And on Sunday the 21st, the parades in the neighborhoods begin, on Tte. Ibáñez street. The Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes, with more than a thousand children of different ages and from different neighborhoods, brings magic, tenderness, color, and joy to the summer nights.
Much more than a party, where the staging of dances and music is the result of social coordination work, prioritizing the smiles of the little ones. That is the Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes, and that is how some of the leaders of the children's carnival groups that will bring a new edition of the popular carnival to life describe it.
"Maravillas del Sur" is one of the 13 troupes participating this year. It is made up of more than 80 children from three neighborhoods in the southern area: Gruta de Lourdes, Carretera La Cruz, and Ex Aero Club. Luis Ledezma, a representative of the troupe, anticipates that "Music" is the theme they chose for this occasion.
"Musical notes and different rhythms will be represented in our parades; the children are happy to participate and be part of this important event for families organized by Mayor Cresto," said Luis. The work and dedication that the children, their friends, and family members put into this activity is the result of all the time shared behind the scenes, where support and friendship create bonds that allow children to develop and learn to be better. "We are a family, they know they can come and talk to us, we are here to help them," he commented.
From the 2 de Abril neighborhood, Andrés Aguilar, representative of the children's troupe Favela Do Samba, indicated that "Corazón Valiente" will be the name of the theme to be represented and that they will pay a heartfelt tribute to the tropical singer Gilda, representing a bit of what her history and life were like before she became famous.
The positive change that this type of activity generates with the children in the neighborhoods is remarkable, Aguilar pointed out. "For example, before there were fights and divisions among the children in the neighborhood, whereas now, after sharing time in rehearsals and workshops, friendship has been forged among them and today we all pull in the same direction," he highlighted.
These are some of the troupes from the Concordia nursery that will bring a new edition of the Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes to life. Among others, the neighborhoods of San Francisco, La Bianca, Pancho Ramírez, Villa Jardín, Don Jorge, El Tero, Camba Paso, General Lamadrid, and Villa Adela will also be represented.
The first parade of the Pequeños Duendes will take place this Friday the 19th, at the Costanera, from Carriego street to the Almirante Brown roundabout, starting at 8:30 PM. 7 troupes will participate on this occasion. Meanwhile, on Sunday the 21st, on Tte. Ibañez street between Feliciano and Nogoya, the second parade will be held with seven other children's troupes that make up the fantastic Carnaval de los Pequeños Duendes. Attendance is free and open to the whole family.
