The Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Environment, informs that in accordance with the latest results of the water quality surveillance and monitoring plan at authorized beaches, recreational use of the Uruguay River at Playa Los Sauces is suspended until further notice.
The records, processed jointly with the Administrative Commission of the Uruguay River (CARU), indicate that water ingestion in the indicated area is not recommended for health due to the presence of Escherichia coli and enterococci exceeding the maximum permitted levels.
The general community is advised not to use Playa Los Sauces, mainly to avoid entering the water, until new studies indicate that adequate sanitary conditions are met.
The same study indicates that Playa Nebel remains authorized for recreational use.
The Environmental Technical Department, under the Undersecretariat of Environment, has been planning and executing the Surveillance and Monitoring Plan for recreational water quality at authorized beaches in the city of Concordia since the beginning of this year, with the objective of obtaining data on beach health and complying with Provincial Resolution SMA 84/07.
The program includes weekly monitoring with sampling to evaluate different microbiological parameters of pathogens and visual observation for algal blooms.
