The Deliberative Council of Concordia held this Thursday, June 5, its 12th Ordinary Session in the “Federico Zorraquín” chamber. With the presence of twelve councilors and under the presidency of the Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza, the legislative day addressed a busy agenda that included everything from decisions on real estate to the handling of union claims and emotional commemorations.
Support for "Ángeles Callejeros" and filing of the ATE claim
One of the central points of the session was the approval, by ordinance, of the transfer of a property to the NGO "Ángeles Callejeros". This measure, which had already been previously arranged by executive decree, consolidates municipal support for the important social work that this organization carries out in the community.
In contrast, the legislative body decided to archive an administrative case file presented by the State Workers' Association (ATE). Said administrative case file was a rejection of the proposed modifications to Provincial Pension Law No. 8.732. Vice-mayor Reta de Urquiza explained that, although the provincial law was modified, it was not in the specific point that the ATE note rejected. Given this situation, the Council chose not to grant the union's claim.
In total, there were twenty-nine administrative case files for this session, most of which were discussed and approved, leaving the rest for the next meeting.
Projects of Municipal and Sports Interest
In addition to the highlighted points, two projects were approved declaring them of Municipal Interest:
Tributes
The current session of the Deliberative Council of Concordia became a space for important commemorations and reflections. With the World Environment Day as a backdrop, the councilors highlighted not only the environmental agenda, but also the tenth anniversary of the "Ni Una Menos" struggle and the imminent celebration of Journalist's Day.
Environmental commitment on World Environment Day
Within the framework of World Environment Day, the councilwoman Verónica Del Boca took the floor to highlight the 9th edition of the International Environment Fair "ECO Ciencias 2025". This initiative, organized by the Undersecretariat of Environment of the Municipality of Concordia in conjunction with the NGO "Luz del Ibirá", underlines the local commitment to ecological awareness and the promotion of actions to protect our planet. This year, World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, a call to global action to reverse ecosystem degradation.
Ten years of "Ni Una Menos": A decade of fighting against gender-based violence
The session was also the scene of an emotional tribute to the ten years of the first "Ni Una Menos" march. Councilors from both blocs recalled the relevance of this movement as a fundamental event in the protection of women against gender-based violence. The commemoration of this day emphasized the legislative body's commitment to the fight against sexist violence and the visibility of this social problem that continues to demand attention and action.
Tribute to Journalism on its Day
Finally, and on the eve of June 7th, Journalist's Day, the councilwoman Carolina Amiano valued the essential task of communication professionals. Amiano highlighted the importance of journalistic work in a democratic society, recognizing the crucial role of those who inform, investigate, and analyze events. Their work, fundamental for the formation of public opinion and the strengthening of citizenship, was highlighted as a pillar for an informed and participatory society.
