The Municipal Secretary of Government and Tourism, Alfredo Francolini, referred to the comprehensive prevention and control operations carried out over the weekend, and highlighted their positive outcome. "These are operations that have been carried out for some time, but the particularity of this weekend is that they were conducted simultaneously at different points and at the city's access roads," he said, noting that "the decision is to continue carrying out these comprehensive operations," whose main objective is "to address a demand regarding the problems posed by illegal street racing and alcohol consumption among young people," as well as "to reinforce security work during the night in Concordia."
"There is a clear decision by Mayor Enrique Cresto to collaborate and make available to the various agencies and forces the municipal resources that are possible, so that together we can improve security levels in Concordia," maintained Francolini. Therefore, "traffic operations and those related to the control of alcohol consumption on public roads are actions that contribute to addressing this comprehensive problem," he indicated.
Regarding the operations carried out over the weekend, he highlighted that "the Citizen Security area worked together with the Traffic Center, with strong collaboration and presence from the Entre Ríos Police through the city's various police stations, and with the collaboration of the National Gendarmerie and the Naval Prefecture. Breathalyzer tests, checks of driving documentation, and prevention controls were carried out at different points in the city. In addition, various reports were drawn up for violations of the regulations on alcohol consumption on public roads, which is something prohibited by ordinance," he pointed out.
In this regard, Francolini maintained that in addition to the controls, "the support of families and society is needed to raise awareness and prevent young people from driving recklessly, committing irregularities, having consumed alcohol, or participating in illegal street racing. This is not solved only with the presence of authorities and control operations, but also with the support of families to reverse these behaviors, which later lead to regrettable incidents."
Finally, the head of the Government and Tourism portfolio of the municipality observed that "the previous weekend, when Concordia was full of tourists for the Easter holiday, we did not have to regret practically any security incident in our city. On the contrary, in neighboring towns, various tourists suffered criminal acts. This is due to joint work that has been carried out in Concordia, with a great commitment from police personnel. This way of working, articulated and strengthening prevention, will allow us to continue improving security levels, both for tourists and for the residents themselves," said Francolini. "We are convinced that this is the path, of joint work between the different levels of the State, as Mayor Cresto indicates to us, to continue improving the issues that concern all of us in Concordia," the official concluded.
