This Monday morning, the second meeting of the Education Commission of the Local Human Development Board was held. It brought together various actors from the local and provincial educational spheres. The main objective is to combat school dropout in Concordia.
The meeting allowed for the establishment of different actions to be followed within specific timeframes. Among them, the creation of a database on the capacity and availability of educational institutions, including private establishments; the design of an articulation network between educational institutions and community actors; and, finally, the selection of a “pilot” neighborhood where the tools available to the commission will be implemented, stand out.
Rocío Postan, promoter of the Education Commission of the Human Development Secretariat, commented that “during the day we have set up work protocols, fundamentally regarding school dropout and waiting lists. The objective is to provide solutions to the problems related to education that are part of this board,” she indicated.
For her part, the Member of the General Council of Education, Elsa Chapuis, emphasized the need to articulate different actions that help carry out the policies projected by the Provincial Government. These are aimed at primary, secondary, and adult students.
In that sense, she maintained that “among the main topics discussed, the problem of the waiting lists that educational establishments have was highlighted. The idea is that we manage to place those students in schools and accompany them in that process, both before and after enrollment”.
The meeting was attended by the Departmental Director of Schools Julio Barrios; Councilwoman Silvina Ovelar; the Coordinator of the Relevar Project and Promoter of the Health Commission Nélida Vedoya; Nélida Amam and Luz Penco on behalf of the Undersecretariat of Education; School Supervisor Graciela González; from the “Volando Alto Foundation”, Florencia Martínez; on behalf of the Parochial Project Emma Mariani and the Territorial Agent of the Relevar Project and Promoter of the Health Commission, Cristina Mereles.
