By decision of Mayor Francisco Azcué, and through Decree No. 1233/2025, the Municipality of Concordia ordered the dismissal of the Director of General Inspection, after a gastronomic establishment was closed during the weekend due to an alleged violation of the Electoral Code within the framework of the electoral silence period.
The measure is adopted as a result of the impact generated by the procedure and an alleged excess in the interpretation of the current regulations, as acknowledged by official sources.
“We are here to support the private sector, not to put obstacles in their way. That is why we instructed an internal investigation so that these types of closures do not occur subjectively or due to a misinterpretation of the rule,” stated Mayor Azcué.
The mayor instructed the Executive Department to initiate an administrative case file in order to determine with precision how the regulations were applied and if there was functional responsibility in the actions of the area.
From the Executive branch, they highlighted that the decision does not seek to undermine control mechanisms, but to ensure that sanctions strictly adhere to the law and that regulations are applied with criteria, reasonableness, and common sense.
“The municipality must be an ally of the private sector, of investment, and of employment. Controls are necessary, but they must be exercised with balance and without affecting those who work and generate economic movement in the city,” highlighted the mayor.
