This Monday, organized by the Undersecretariat of Culture and Education of the Municipality of Concordia, in conjunction with the Group of Children of Malvinas Veterans, the series of talks “Malvinas, Education and Values” began, which aims to visit different educational establishments in the city, bringing the testimony of those who defended national sovereignty.
The activities began at School No. 1 “Cesáreo Bernaldo de Quirós” and School No. 75 “2 de Abril” with presentations by Malvinas War Veterans Jorge Sabbagh, Luis Giorgi, and Esteban Tries.
The initiative seeks to bring students closer to an instance of reflection and learning based on the direct testimony of the veterans. Through their experiences, it is proposed to transmit history, identity, and values, strengthening the bond with collective memory and the recognition of those who defended national sovereignty.
At the opening of the first talk, Mayor Francisco Azcué participated, highlighting that “we are at a moment in which our country needs patriots, people who have civic commitment and who are willing to do what is right and more, and there is no one better to symbolize that love for the homeland than our Malvinas heroes”.
After remarking that the objective of these meetings is “to vindicate our heroes, pay tribute to them, and sustain our unwavering claim for sovereignty regarding the Malvinas Islands”, Azcué maintained that this is something that “every day of our lives, every time we can, we must do as Argentines”.
The Undersecretary of Education and Culture, Carlos Gatto, for his part, pointed out that “it is very important that our adolescents know what that historical moment was for our country, which is why the idea is to bring our veterans closer with these talks, which are undoubtedly very emotional and will leave a great lesson”.
Esteban Tries, a Malvinas veteran, stressed that “after the talks, we see that it is a before and after. We want to generate a seedbed of opportunities for our young people, and for that, we need everyone: politics, education, and the youth. Malvinas truly unites us”.
Emmanuel Ceballos, a member of the Group of Children of Malvinas Veterans of Concordia, confessed that “it is very exciting to be able to get the ex-combatants to be here. It fills my heart, as it is something we had been planning for a long time. We thank the municipality for their collaboration”.
The talks will continue this Tuesday at the following educational institutions: School No. 25 “Gral. San Martín”, located at 515 San Lorenzo Ave. From 9:00 to 11:00 hours, and at the San Roque González de Santa Cruz School D-205, located at Ignacio Rucci Ave. s/n (Benito Legerén). From 14:00 to 16:00 hours.
