The screening is part of the “Kiné” series, which will continue with films by the Austrian director throughout the month of September, according to the following schedule:

September 13: “M” (1931)

September 13: National Engraving Salon (the series will NOT take place)

September 13: “Man Hunt” (1941)

“Metropolis”

Future, year 2000. In the megalopolis of Metropolis, society is divided into two classes: the wealthy, who hold power and the means of production, surrounded by luxury, spacious areas, and gardens; and the workers, condemned to live in dramatic conditions confined to an underground ghetto, where the industrial heart of the city is located. One day, Freder (Alfred Abel), the son of the all-powerful Joh Fredersen (Gustav Frohlich), the man who controls the city, discovers the harsh working conditions of the laborers after falling in love with Maria (Brigitte Helm), a girl of humble origins who is revered by the lower classes and preaches good feelings and love. The son then warns his father that the workers could rebel.

“M”

A child murderer has the whole city terrified. The police are searching for him frantically and desperately, detaining anyone who is even slightly suspicious. Meanwhile, the underworld bosses, furious about the raids they are suffering because of the murderer, decide to hunt him down themselves.

“Kiné” is an artistic, historical, and educational audiovisual series that takes place every Friday (except holidays) at 9:00 PM. Supported by a selection of theoretical and analytical texts, each session begins with a brief and concrete presentation about the material to be viewed and its artistic and historical context. The selection of films and the introduction are led by Jazmín Solano, the technical aspect is handled by Juan Manuel Locaso, and the graphic design and flyers are by Adriana López.

The series, with free admission, is intended for the general public and is supported by the Municipality of Concordia and the Undersecretariat of Culture.
