The city is preparing to pay tribute to one of the most transcendental writers of universal literature, Jorge Luis Borges, through a proposal that invites the entire community to express themselves through words.
In this context, the Municipality of Concordia, through the Undersecretariat of Education and Culture, in conjunction with the Departmental Directorate of Schools, will carry out the poetry contest “Concordia en Verso - Palabras que nos nombran”, an initiative that seeks to foster creativity, sensitivity, and the construction of identity through writing.
The proposal is developed in commemoration of the passing of Jorge Luis Borges, an emblematic figure of Argentine literature, whose legacy continues to inspire new generations. In this sense, the contest is aimed at students from state and private educational institutions in the city, covering the second cycle of primary level and the entirety of the secondary level, as well as the community in general, through an open category for people over 18 years of age residing in Concordia.
The contest includes three categories: Primary Level, Secondary Level, and a “General Public” category, thus promoting an inclusive and participatory space that strengthens the bond between culture and the community. Productions may be individual or group-based in the case of students, while for the open category, participation will be individual.
The works must be unpublished, of own authorship, and in free-form poetry format, with a maximum length of one page. Regarding the theme, it will be free, suggesting axes such as identity, territory, bonds, emotions, and different perspectives on the world.
The organization reported that submissions may be presented during the months of April and May, with the deadline for submission being Friday, May 22. They must be delivered in printed format, in a sealed envelope, at the offices of the Directorate of Education, located at Avellaneda 26, complying with the corresponding identification requirements according to the category.
The jury will be composed of writers with a recognized trajectory in the city, together with representatives from the educational and cultural spheres, who will be in charge of evaluating the works, considering aspects such as originality, creativity, expressiveness, and the use of poetic language.
Outstanding works will be recognized in a special event, where they may also be read and disseminated through institutional channels, highlighting the voice of each participant.
In this way, the Municipality continues to promote cultural and educational policies that encourage participation, critical thinking, and the development of artistic expressions, reaffirming its commitment to education and culture as fundamental pillars for the construction of citizenship.
