Within the framework of the inclusion and awareness policies carried out by the administration of Mayor Alfredo Francolini, the Disability Directorate worked together with the Concordia Departmental branch of the Entre Ríos Police on specific training for security force agents in Argentine Sign Language, with the aim of providing an inclusive communication tool for the agents.
"The workshop provided is part of a program promoted by the Disability Directorate of the Municipality of Concordia and its central objective is to provide an accessibility tool such as Argentine Sign Language to security force personnel, so that they can better perform their work and have better communication with those people who require their services and communicate through Sign Language," explained Marcelo Primitivo, Director of Disability..
On this occasion, "a basic Argentine Sign Language (LSA) workshop was provided to the radioelectric personnel belonging to the Police of Entre Ríos, and I want to highlight the good will and predisposition of the Chief of Police and the entire management body, as well as the agents who carried out the training, all very eager to acquire knowledge for better communication and for more inclusion," highlighted the municipal official.
"The agents were very enthusiastic about the workshop, some already had prior knowledge of the Argentine Sign Language System. As the classes provided by the Interpreter Silvina Helber and her referent Ayelen Salvador, a deaf person who complements the workshop, progressed, they expressed themselves very satisfied," remarked Primitivo.
For his part, the Secretary of Health and Sports, Dr. Mauro García, stated that "we want, on behalf of the mayor Alfredo Francolini, to highlight the commitment of the police personnel, who dedicated their free hours to be able to train and be part of a necessary transformation in society, with more inclusion. This training is undoubtedly very important for the role that the institution plays in society," he highlighted.
