The Director of Traffic and Transport of the Municipality of Concordia, Emanuel Galli, referred to the validity of the Ordinance that regulates the private transport system and the controls that are being carried out with the objective of guaranteeing compliance with the regulation and providing security to the passengers who use this modality.
In this regard, he highlighted that the spirit of the regulation “was never to exclude” but “to provide a legal framework so that they can work within the jurisdiction of our city but meeting requirements, seeking to equalize conditions regarding the provision of the service in remises and taxis”.
This refers to Ordinance No. 38,292, which establishes the conditions for the administration, provision, and planning of passenger transport through remises, taxis, and digital platforms, including registration in the Commercial municipal tax for private transport companies via electronic platforms.
Regarding the latter, the regulation specifies that private transport companies via platform “must register in the Commercial municipal tax through the Single Online Window, as established in the ordinance and Regulatory Decree No. 1367/2022”.
And he clarifies that its non-compliance can generate “sanctions such as temporary suspension or permanent disqualification”.
Regarding the situation of drivers related to the new applications, specifically Uber, Galli reported that “drivers have been detected working for the application, without having the corresponding municipal authorization”, recalling that subsequently “after it was sanctioned, its main points were disseminated in the different media outlets and our staff was always available to provide guidance and so that interested parties could register”.
The Director of Traffic and Transport even highlighted that “initially, the socioeconomic context that the country is going through was taken into account and the possibility was given, through Decree 864/2024, that they could register completely free of charge, fulfilling all the requirements established by the ordinance”.
