Officials from Entre Ríos, the national government, and the Municipality of Concordia conducted a technical visit to our city's Drinking Water Production, Transport, and Distribution System, a priority project for 2026 that is currently under execution and shows 88 percent progress.
The tour included the participation of the Secretary General of the Government of Entre Ríos, Mauricio Colello; the Deputy Chief of the Interior Cabinet, Gustavo Coria; the National Secretary of Public Works, Bernardo Heredia; Mayor Francisco Azcué; the provincial Director of Hydraulics, Oscar Pintos; and the coordinator of the Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure of Entre Ríos, Gonzalo Atencio.
At the end of the visit, Coria highlighted the joint work between the Nation, the province, and the Municipality to advance a strategic project for the city. "We are supporting the province and the municipality in a project that is emblematic and necessary," he noted, recalling that it is a project initiated in 2017, during Rogelio Frigerio's tenure as Minister of the Interior.
In that sense, the national official remarked on the importance of completing the works to guarantee the supply of drinking water to the residents of Concordia. "This project will be finished in a couple of months and will provide drinking water service to almost the entire municipality, which demands it so much, and on which the mayor has been working arduously," he assured.
For his part, Colello valued the coordination with national officials and especially highlighted Coria's role. "He is an official who is always available to answer the phone and is willing to find solutions," he noted.
Furthermore, he remarked on the importance of the project for Concordia, as it is an intervention that will allow for the improvement of an essential service for the city. "It is a long-awaited project that will guarantee something as essential as the quality, distribution, and pressure of drinking water for all inhabitants of Concordia," he stated.
In that framework, he linked the continuity of the works with an orderly administration of public resources. "Managing resources well means being able to allocate them where they really need to go, such as in these types of projects that directly impact people's quality of life," he maintained. Finally, he specified that approximately 11 months remain until the completion of the project.
For his part, Mayor Azcué valued the progress of the works and the efforts made together with the province and the Nation to guarantee the continuity of the project. "A project that has been going on for many years, because it has gone through different governments," he explained, noting that part of the delays were linked to the economic context and price redeterminations. In that sense, he maintained that currently "we are moving towards a more normal country where one can plan, where works can be executed."
In that framework, Azcué explained that the intervention does not only contemplate the new water treatment plant, but also a distribution system that will allow for the improvement of the service in different sectors of the city. "This project is not just the water treatment plant, it has an entire network of distribution pipes, it is like a ring that covers the whole city," he detailed. He added that it will allow for the improvement of "distribution and pressure," with a direct impact on neighborhoods that currently face supply difficulties, especially during the summer.
The project is being executed by the company JCR SA, has 88 percent progress, and has a scheduled completion date of June 2027. The investment amounts to 7,844.69 million pesos. The intervention is part of the agreed-upon works and was incorporated as a priority project for 2026. Its joint monitoring allows for progress in the analysis of infrastructure needs linked to an essential service for Concordia.
The tour was also attended by the member of the Administrative Commission for the Special Fund of Salto Grande (Cafesg) Martín Dri; Deputy Marcelo López; and Senator Gloria Cozzi, in addition to local authorities.
