No. 10.244
SEEN:
The visit of three Malvinas Veterans who served in the South Atlantic conflict in 1982, within the framework of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of School No. 25 General San Martín, and;
CONSIDERING:
That taking into account Ordinance No. 38537/2024 “New Honors Regime”, Chapter II, Article 10 “Guest of Honor of the city of Concordia”;
That this Deliberative Council declared of interest the magazine that was the result of arduous research work by students, with the firm conviction of “Malvinizing” this process of remembering and valuing our heroes and heroines of the South Atlantic conflict;
That they conducted interviews with the women who had great participation, who for many years were denied, hidden, and deprived of the possibility of writing and telling their part in this history. Recognizing these 16 women is not only an act of justice, it is a reparation to the history of our country; it is filling in some blanks on the empty pages. It is highlighting the courage and the role of the women who said “I will go” with hearts swollen with patriotism. By their own will and against another will that looked askance at the presence of women, who beyond being just professionals, had the word, the gaze, and the timely gesture of comfort in the face of so much pain, so much massacre, so much cruelty, from both their own and the enemy. They provided much more than physical relief;
That they are our heroines, a valuable part of our history, they are our contemporaries, and it is our duty to pay them homage and respect while they are alive;
That we are pleased to distinguish these three women who visit us today and, in their name, those sixteen who, with total integrity and strength, said YES to embarking on an endeavor where their young lives were at stake;
They are:
Silvia Barrera: Surgical instrument technician. She was called to go to the conflict at 23 years old; she decided to go with integrity and loyalty, with only a few hours to decide. Undoubtedly defying foreign ammunition, defying the inclement and freezing weather;
María Liliana Colino: She belonged to the Argentine Air Force, she was 26 young years old, she fulfilled an initial role as a nurse in the evacuation of the medical area at the Relocatable Hospital of the Air Force in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut. On the night of May 21 to 22, Liliana was summoned by her superior to participate in a logistics and rescue mission for wounded soldiers; the chief medical officer informed her that the intensive care unit was saturated, they had to rescue the wounded Argentine soldiers, she boarded the plane without hesitation; there, she and her companions, with the ship in motion, which always continued taxiing, with flashlights in their mouths, in the greatest possible silence, loaded the soldiers for their transfer; at one point the enemy danger alarm sounded, and she thus became the first woman to set foot on our Malvinas Islands during the war conflict as part of our glorious Armed Forces. A woman who, standing tall with courage and passion, flew to save the lives of Argentine soldiers; with extreme cold and the threat of bombing, she helped load the stretchers with the wounded onto the Hercules. Today she is dedicated to being a veterinarian and “Malvinizing”. She still keeps the boots with Malvinas soil;
Mariana Florinda Soneira: She was embarked on the naval transport ship ARA Bahía San Blas, she was a cadet of the communications corps of the Manuel Belgrano National Nautical School. She was doing internships when they warned her about the war, and they gave her the possibility of getting off. With deep love for her flag, she decided to continue at her young 19 years, but with the conviction of great souls;
That the great challenge that questioned these women at an early age and the enormous responsibility they assumed, saying YES to the supreme maxim: risking their lives in defense of our sovereignty;
That being young, being a woman, in that socio-historical context, was not easy. They suffered the lack of proper treatment, disqualifications, mockery, and disdain for their condition, raising the feeling of duty to the homeland above all hardship. With their stoic conviction, to defend our soil. When the homeland calls, even a mother's tears fall silent.
Therefore:
THE DELIBERATIVE COUNCIL OF Concordia
