Organized by the Municipality of Concordia, through the Secretariat of Health, a Workshop on the Use and Safety of Aerial Assets in Forest Fires was held in our city, taught by the Federal Fire Management System of the National Government and the Fire Management Plan, which reports to the Provincial Secretariat of Environment.
Brigadistas and firefighters from the region were present. The activities consisted of an initial theoretical part and a second practical part, with the use of the hydrant aircraft based at the Aeroclub Concordia.
Secretary of Health Dr. Diego Sauré recalled that following the forest fires that affected the department of Concordia and on the initiative of Mayor Francisco Azcué, an Igneous Emergency was declared, which allowed, among other measures, to have a hydrant aircraft belonging to the National Fire Management Plan in the area, with an operational base in our city and availability for the provinces that make up the NEA region.
“This allowed us to generate joint actions when acting in the face of fires, whether with firefighters or brigadistas. To this, we must add that the Municipality of Concordia created the Municipal Forest Brigade, with the objective of providing logistical support, with trained municipal personnel and its own equipment, operating under the orbit of the Directorate of Civil Protection and Health Emergencies,” highlighted Sauré.
During the most critical moment, this Municipal Forest Brigade, “the only one in Mesopotamia, intervened in more than 40 forest fires of varying magnitude, and the fact that this workshop is being held today is very important as it allows us to continue working in a planned and coordinated manner, thinking about the future.”
Daniel Blanco, coordinator of the NEA Region of the Federal Fire Management System, explained that the objective of the training was to make available the different tools “that are used when we need support from an aerial asset and to provide assistance in the face of these types of contingencies, emphasizing safety measures.”
