CONCORDIA SPOKE AT THE INTERNATIONAL FAIR OF SMART TOURIST DESTINATIONS “TURISMO 360” IN MONTEVIDEO
The Undersecretariat of Tourism of the Municipality of Concordia, through the Tourism Observatory, was part of the Tourism 360 training cycle - International Fair of Smart Tourist Destinations, held on May 4th and 5th at the Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The event brought together government authorities, academic representatives, and technicians specialized in tourism planning, with the aim of debating and updating tools for destination management under the Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI) approach.
Concordia was invited to participate on Monday, May 5th, in the technical training and capacity-building space, which included dialogue panels aimed at sharing experiences, analyzing trends, and promoting exchange between tourism observatories in the region.
During the session, Solange Seijas, Director of the Tourism Observatory of the Municipality of Concordia, spoke at the panel titled “Tourism Observatories and Smart Destinations: methodologies, tools, and alliances for tourism monitoring in the region,” where best practices in tourism data collection and analysis were addressed, as well as cooperation strategies between cities.
The Concordia Observatory reaffirms its commitment to working for an integral destination, promoting innovation, permanent analysis, and public-private cooperation as pillars for tourism management with a future vision.
This participation aligns with the strategic objectives of the local administration aimed at strengthening tourism governance through the generation of reliable information, connection with regional networks, and technical-academic cooperation.
The discussion included the participation of the following study centers: The Observatory of City-University Cooperation (AUGM – Mercociudades), the Coordinator of the Thematic Unit of Tourism of Mercociudades (from Canelones), the Montevideo Observatory (Uruguay), and the Tourism Observatory of Paraná (UFPR – Brazil).
The activity was organized by the Academic Committee on Tourism of the Association of Montevideo Group Universities (AUGM) and the Observatory of City-University Cooperation (AUGM – Mercociudades). It is framed within the cooperation agreement between the Intendancy of Montevideo and SEGITTUR (Spanish State Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies), and the 2025 regional work plan that promotes public policies aimed at the development and implementation of DTI in Latin America.
