The MOMO group and the murga Los Desorbitados del Puerto met with the Secretary of Government and Tourism Alfredo Francolini, the director of the Carnival Entity Sebastián Cuberli, the Budget coordinator of the Entity Miguel Guitar, and the Events coordinator of the Municipality Verónica Kinderknecht, to finalize details regarding the popular celebrations of this festival that will take place from Sunday to Tuesday, at the Estación de la Cultura and in Plaza Urquiza, as well as the parade of masks and costumes that will be held on Tuesday at the "burial of the carnival".
"Concordia is a city that has all the expressions of Carnival", stated the director of the Carnival Entity, Sebastián Cuberli, after the work meeting in which the Municipality provided the financial contribution so that these festivities could be carried out. "For the mayor Enrique Cresto, one of the axes of his administration is the strengthening of cultural actions. And the carnival is culture, it is one of the expressions of our identity, in addition to being a great tourist attraction", maintained Cuberli. "That is why, together with the Secretary of Government Alfredo Francolini, we worked to ensure that the MOMO group and the murgueros have what they need for the Popular Carnival of Joy to take place, which is already a classic in the city", he highlighted.
"Concordia is preparing to experience a great weekend, with all the expressions of carnival, the competitive one at the Corsódromo with Ráfaga, Bella Samba, Emperatriz and Imperio, in what will be the last two great nights, the Carnival of the Little Goblins that has toured many neighborhoods every weekend, and the stage and costume parade that will be held on Tuesday. There must not be another city in Argentina that has all the expressions of carnival.", he valued.
"We have been organizing the Popular Carnival for 16 years now, and it gets better every time. On this occasion, we will have eleven artistic acts on stage, plus workshops and the popular parade on Tuesday", commented José Barrios, a member of the MOMO group, organizer of the popular Tablado that will take place on Monday at Plaza Urquiza. "Monday will begin at 7 p.m. with Los Tinguiritas, a very good show for children, and closing around 1 a.m. with the murga La Nueva, a Uruguayan murga that has participated in the carnival in Montevideo and is the winner of the Salto Carnival from last year", he summarized a proposal that will also include candombe, Buenos Aires-style murgas, music and much more.
"On Monday we start at 6 p.m. with four free workshops at Plaza Urquiza, to learn to play, to paint, everything, and at 7 p.m. with the performances on the Tablado" that will be set up on 3 de Febrero street and Entre Ríos. "And on Tuesday the call is at 7 p.m. and at 8 p.m. the parade will begin from Plaza Urquiza to Plaza 25 de Mayo, to which we invite everyone who wants to participate, it does not matter if you are part of a group or not, you just have to come with a mask, a disguise, a costume or painted and participate", he invited all families.
But in the lead-up to this popular carnival, the murga Los Desorbitados del Puerto will celebrate their three years of existence at the Estación de la Cultura (former central station), Avda. Robinson, on Sunday, March 3rd, starting at 6 p.m. "We are a Buenos Aires-style murga that has a local identity, and in the celebrations there will be everything, for the whole family, circus, bands, chamamé, a wide schedule", commented for her part Agustina Baglietti, a member of Los Desorbitados del Puerto.
