After seven years, the city of Concordia is once again positioned among the ten cities with the highest number of fairs and exhibitions in Argentina, according to the 2024 Yearbook of the Argentine Association of Organizers and Suppliers of Exhibitions, Congresses and Events (AOCA). This achievement reaffirms its place in a strategic sector for tourism and economic development.
This recognition holds special value, as Concordia is the only city in the province of Entre Ríos and one of the few outside of the major metropolitan hubs to achieve this distinction. The last time it had appeared in this ranking was in 2018, and after seven years it returns with strength, evidencing sustained growth and a renewed capacity for attraction.
In line with this, the local Tourism Observatory and the Economic Observatory of Meetings Tourism (OETR) detailed that the year 2024 marked a turning point, as the Concordia Convention Center doubled its participation as a meeting space compared to 2023. Furthermore, the agenda of activities diversified, covering topics such as tourism and hospitality, agriculture and livestock, art and design; with a strong prominence of the academic sphere, followed by the associative, sports, governmental and corporate sectors.
This new national recognition reaffirms its capacity to convene and sustain large-scale meetings, consolidating its profile as a strategic destination in events and meetings tourism. Added to this is the imminent opening of the Concordia Airport, which will expand the connectivity of the city and the entire Salto Grande region—with Federación and Salto (R.O.U.) as natural allies—, opening a horizon of new possibilities for the development of the sector.
Since the beginning of the current administration, the Undersecretariat of Tourism implemented different management instruments for the segment, which were then validated by the Mixed Concordiense Tourism Entity (EMCONTUR), such as the support matrix for congresses, fairs and meetings in the city, ensuring a transparent use of resources and boosting the tourism and economic impact of each event. Thus, the National Capital of Citrus projects a future in which professionalization, innovation and sustainability mark the course, consolidating the city as a chosen reference for congresses, fairs, events and exhibitions of national and international reach.
