This Monday, the reception was held for blueberry producers from more than 27 countries who will participate until Thursday in the International Blueberry Congress IBO SUMMIT 2016, hosted in our city at the Convention Center and in Salto (Oriental Republic of Uruguay).
Enrique Cresto highlighted how important it is for the region to host this activity “because blueberry production has had sustained growth in recent years and we have high expectations for this harvest season,” recalling that the Municipality has been working jointly with the sector for the benefit of the workers.
“This fills us with pride, that as a region we are hosts of an event that brings together producers, business people, and officials from our country and different parts of the world,” he stated, noting that this positions the city as a productive and commercial destination, a generator of opportunities and events that go hand in hand with tourism.
Participating in the reception for producers from different continents were Vice Mayor Armando Gay, Provincial Senator Ángel Giano, Emcontur President Martín Buraglia, and the President of the Argentine Delegation of CTM, Roberto Niez. Along with the President of the International Blueberry Organization (IBO), Andrés Armstrong; the head of the Argentine Blueberry Committee, Carlos Stabile; the head of the Uruguayan blueberry committee UPERFRUY, Marta Betancur; and Omar Chiarello, president of APAMA, the Association of Blueberry Producers of the Argentine Mesopotamia, the host entity.
In this regard, Chiarello -who, along with Cresto, gave welcoming remarks as an introduction to the Congress that will begin this Tuesday at the Convention Center-, pointed out that expectations have been completely exceeded. "It is not held in Concordia by chance, but rather it was chosen for the potential it has and the work that has been carried out by the sector. It is an award for the producers and for all the people of Concordia,” highlighted the head of APAMA regarding the holding of the event in our city. And he highlighted the "support of the Municipality and Mayor Enrique Cresto for the Congress, in which we hope that by the end we will all leave with greater knowledge so that blueberry production is sustainable and continues to grow in our area," he concluded.
