The mayor of Concordia Enrique Cresto participated this Tuesday in the meeting that the President of the Nation Mauricio Macri held with more than thirty mayors from different cities.
On the occasion, the national leader - accompanied by the Ministers of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, Rogelio Frigerio, and of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich - referred to the main lines of action of his government at this stage and the deepening of ties with the municipalities.
One of the main aspects of the meeting was the presidential announcement to increase by 37 percent the subsidies allocated to public passenger transport in the interior of the country and the commitment ratified by Macri to support the development of this sector with infrastructure works.
The amount of the subsidies will rise to 14.7 billion pesos - last year the figure had been 10.7 billion -, explained Dietrich at the end of the meeting. The Minister pointed out that “the difference will fully cover the salary increase for the whole year and the increases in higher costs for fuel”.
For his part, Frigerio highlighted that this decision “has to do with our commitment to public passenger transport and our commitment to a federal country”.
Cresto referred to the meeting on the social network Facebook, highlighting the importance of working together between the Nation and the municipalities to articulate concrete solutions to the demands of the residents. “The municipality is the first place where the resident demands answers. We mayors must strive to carry out good management, address problems and promote the growth of our cities. For this, having the support of the Province and the Nation is very important; taking into account that many times the fundamental solutions we need exceed the resources and resolution capacity of the municipalities”, indicated the municipal chief and president of the block of Peronist mayors of the FAM (Argentine Federation of Municipalities).
