Starting this Friday, the beaches of Concordia are open, providing all services to enjoy the summer in the city. With important announcements, the mayor Enrique Cresto inaugurated the season together with the Secretary of Tourism Alfredo Francolini, the President of the Center for Industry and Commerce Diego Lago, and Father Daniel Petelín, who blessed the beaches and the water.
“On December 10th, we will begin the new sand replenishment on the Costanera, for the maintenance of the current beach, which we recovered last season, and to extend it to a new beach in Los Sauces,” announced Mayor Enrique Cresto this Friday, December 1st, at the inauguration of the 2017–2018 summer season.
“We are launching the Safe Corridor along the entire Avenida de los Pueblos Originarios, extending to Playa Nebel, with special prevention and security work throughout this area for tourists and the residents of Concordia themselves who are going to enjoy the summer at the Costanera and the beaches,” indicated the mayor, referring to the various works and services being launched for the new tourist season.
Boost the tourism development of Concordia
“We are starting the second stage of tourism policies for the city,” said the mayor as a mid-term assessment of his administration. “Concordia has been growing a lot and is becoming a great tourist attraction, but the work must be reinforced. Deepen what was done well, which has been a lot with the few resources we have had, and correct those aspects that allow us to boost the development of the activity,” he stressed.
New EMCONTUR
Cresto pointed out that “we are now rethinking the operation of the tourism area. EMCONTUR is focused on tourism guidelines, promotions, and development, together with the Secretariat of Tourism, which coordinates the municipality's areas in infrastructure and services in each of the city's zones.”
In this regard, the Secretary of Tourism of the Municipality, Alfredo Francolini, indicated, “when Enrique Cresto summoned me, he clearly defined that the work must be planned with the private sector so that Concordia is a tourist city all year round. Tourism is not just the lake and hot springs; it must also be fishing, golf, museums (...) Concordia has many natural beauties that must be provided with service infrastructure for the tourist; we have many activities, events, and proposals that must be strengthened,” maintained Francolini.
After the inauguration, the "Playa Bachata" show was presented, prepared especially for the occasion by dancers Leo Alanís and Noe Godoy. Accompanying the inauguration of the beach season were the Secretary of Public Works and Services Jorge Mendieta, the vice president of EMCONTUR Miguel Guitar, the Undersecretary of Culture César Tisocco, officials from the Tourism area, and representatives of the city's commercial and hotel sector, among others.
