The second night of the most passionate carnival parade has passed. With pleasant weather and an attendance of nearly 90%, a great party was experienced in the stands and at the VIP sector tables with the passage of the five troupes that bring the Carnival of Concordia to life. This Saturday, the highlight was the presence of mayor Enrique Cresto and vice-mayor Armando Gay inside the runway, being part of the Bella Samba drum section.
Thousands of residents of Concordia and tourists experienced the second night of the battle of passions. At 10 p.m., the imaginary curtain of the Corsódromo was raised for Unisur to enter, and then it was the turn of Emperatriz, the last carnival champion, who paraded defending its crown. Around midnight, Bella Samba entered, the troupe that makes all the stands sing, and this time with the particularity that vice-mayor Armando Gay was one of the directors of the drum section, and that Mayor Cresto himself was playing the repique. The schedule was completed with Imperio and Ráfaga -the multi-champion- in charge of closing the parade.
"The effort and commitment of each troupe can be seen"
"I want to thank the leaders of Bella Samba and the directors of the Eterna Guerra drum section for this invitation they extended to us and for allowing us to be part of this unique celebration from the inside," expressed the vice-mayor and president of the Deliberative Council. "There is a lot of effort and sacrifice from each of the people who work for so long in each troupe to provide this show, and living it from inside the runway, you can feel the support of the public in the stands," commented Gay. "With the commitment of each troupe and the mayor's decision, the Carnival will continue to grow."
"A cultural celebration for everyone"
"It is a celebration for everyone," mayor Enrique Cresto did not hesitate to assure. "The Carnival is a unique cultural expression, it is joy and color, but also inclusion, integration, and camaraderie," he said upon finishing his tour of the runway. The municipal president thanked "the invitation from the people of Bella Samba and the Eterna Guerra drum section. It was a very nice moment that we enjoyed a lot, because like so many residents of Concordia, we live these festivities with passion and joy, together with my family and friends."
The Carnival is consolidating
In an initial evaluation of the second night, Cresto pointed out that "the Carnival continues to grow, today (this Saturday) we had a capacity of around 90%, and with the online sales system, tickets for the following nights are sold out in a large percentage, this augurs that 2017 will be a success."
"There are many people working to make the Carnival possible, a popular and cultural celebration that we want to consolidate as the main tourist attraction of the summer. We are on that path," emphasized Cresto. "The Carnival has no ceiling, and we have the great nursery that is the Carnival of the Little Goblins, which continues to tour the neighborhoods, because this is a celebration for the whole family," he concluded.
