The works were carried out with personnel and resources from the Municipality of Concordia. The investment exceeded 22 million pesos.
The Municipality of Concordia, through the Secretariat of Urban Development, completed repair works at the mouth of the Concordia stream, located at the intersection of Alvear and Zorraquín streets.
This is part of the storm drainage plan that has been executed in different parts of the city. In this case, the works were carried out by the municipality's own personnel and resources, with an investment of more than 22,400,000 pesos.
The piping plays a fundamental role, as do maintenance and cleaning. In this sector, it showed significant deterioration due to the passage of time, rainfall, and the accumulation of waste that hindered its normal operation.
The works consisted of the repair of the slope and the retaining wall, as well as the installation of railings and the construction of sidewalks.
Weeks ago, Mayor Francisco Azcué visited the site, highlighting that the state in which the storm drain was found “caused many inconveniences when we are affected by rainfall because the system becomes saturated and causes flooding. This required a significant investment but also needs the commitment of the residents not to throw away waste. Everyone has to do their part: we as a municipality, to carry out these works, and the residents to take care, to be responsible by complying with taking out the waste at the established time and taking it to the place where it corresponds. These are minimum guidelines that we have to respect”.
