The Secretariat of Health will expand the scope of the awareness campaign that - in accordance with the annual planning defined by Mayor Enrique Cresto - is being carried out in the neighborhoods of Concordia to ensure that the population can be informed and comply with the national vaccination schedule. The applications are free and are carried out in any of the city's hospitals and health centers.
The vaccines in the national schedule are mandatory and are administered at all stages of a person's life. With this premise, the Municipality of Concordia is preparing - as it does every year - an awareness campaign on the importance of vaccination.
In a special way, the Mayor entrusted the Secretariat of Health team to intensify the promotion work that is usually carried out through the Health Centers and in neighborhood operations. In this framework, dissemination actions and specific interventions and approaches are being prepared to facilitate access and mobilize the will of residents to get vaccinated.
The municipal director of Primary Health Care, Ana Paula Vila, indicated in this regard that “one of the main problems we observe is that many people, of all age groups, receive the first dose of a vaccine and then do not return for the other doses”. In this sense, “what we want to emphasize is that it is never too late to complete the schedule, that they should not feel ashamed or anything similar; they have to go to the nearest health center and consult without any problems”.
Meanwhile, from the Nursing coordination, Carina Barboza specified that “in the approaches that the municipality makes throughout the year, we detect that not only children, but many adolescents, adults and older adults do not have the complete schedule, generally due to ignorance that they must continue to receive vaccines; it is not something that ends at 15 years of age”.
As part of a municipal administration that prioritizes primary health care, child development and the care of the population, a schedule of actions and interventions in different parts of the city will be confirmed shortly, between the end of September and the beginning of October, with the collaboration and joint work with intermediate organizations, neighborhood associations, clubs and schools.
Health in the territory
Concordia has public hospitals and health centers in different neighborhoods, which the population can attend between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and request the administration of vaccines free of charge, or make inquiries about the schedule and the doses that correspond to each stage of life. It is essential to have the vaccination card at hand.
