The Decentralized Sanitary Works Entity (EDOS) carried out an extensive operation in the 21 de Septiembre neighborhood, continuing the neighborhood outreach operations ordered by Mayor Enrique Cresto. They were at the pumping station where cleaning and inspection work on its pipes was carried out.
From the agency, technical manager Mireya López Bernis reported that the tasks were performed at the station located at the corner of Diamante and Mario Gatto streets, a place where issues had arisen days ago.
“Cleaning and inspection of the pipes were carried out since sand and stones had entered them, preventing the normal functioning of the station,” noted the person in charge of EDOS, remarking that one of the difficulties they had to face is that the cleaning has to be done at a depth of about 6 meters, but that in any case, thanks to the professionalism of the agency's operators, “the work could be carried out as it should be.”
It should be remembered that last weekend the Municipality carried out an outreach in the aforementioned neighborhood and one of the requests from the residents was that a solution could be provided to this problem that was occurring with the sewage system.
At that time, it was explained to them that one of the drawbacks is the instability presented by the soil due to it being sand, and in fact, this was proven with the work carried out in the last few hours.
“Its capacity and possible resizing of the station are under study. For the administration of Mayor Enrique Cresto, it is a priority that residents can access a good service, as in this case, sewage, and we are working on that,” said López Bernis, who thanked the residents because they understood what the situation is.
