The Municipal Traffic Center, together with the National Road Safety Agency, is currently carrying out educational promotion activities in various primary and secondary schools in the city. Road safety education is very important; if children learn how to conduct themselves on the street from a young age, they will be able to be good pedestrians today and better drivers tomorrow. That is the premise of the training sessions being carried out.
In parallel to this, training for Concordia's traffic agents was carried out by professionals from the National Road Safety Agency, within the framework of various actions promoted by Mayor Enrique Cresto to improve service provision and raise awareness about the importance of respecting regulations and contributing together to a safer city.
Regarding the activities being carried out in schools, Walter Báez, Coordinator of the Traffic Center, commented that "children and adolescents occupy an important place in traffic, as pedestrians or passengers, which is why the objective of these training sessions is to teach them what their responsibilities are in traffic; Mayor Cresto's decision is to strengthen prevention and education instances, which is why we want them to know the safety elements they must use to circulate in the city".
For her part, María Noel Garayalde, Principal of the Hermanas Mercedarias School, pointed out the importance of training sessions like these, since children are constantly an active part of traffic in the city. "That they proposed to us to carry out this training is a source of pride for us; that our students are trained in what road safety is, is very important", highlighted the teacher.
The enthusiasm of the 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students of the Hermanas Mercedarias School could be heard from the courtyard; everyone raised their hands to give their opinion about what can and cannot be done on the street. These activities continue in various public and private schools in Concordia.
