Under the presidency of the vice mayor Lic. Magdalena Reta de Urquiza and with the presence of eleven council members, this Thursday the 10th Ordinary Session of the local legislative body took place. During the meeting, key regulations were enacted, ranging from legal sanitation in mental health to the promotion of the city's productive and sports development.
Mental Health: Concordia aligns with the Province
One of the most prominent points of the day was the approval of the ordinance for adherence to mental health regulations, both at the national level, Law No. 27.130, and the provincial level, Law No. 10.605. The initiative, promoted by council members Celeste Fuscado y Silvina Ovelar, received unanimous support from the councilors.
The Provincial Suicide Prevention Law, enacted in 2018, lacked regulation until the recent administration of Governor Rogelio Frigerio. In this regard, Reta de Urquiza highlighted that this decision is strategic for the city:
"Adherence is fundamental because it will allow Concordia to access and implement the projects and programs that the Province is already executing", emphasized the vice mayor.
Furthermore, it was anticipated that next Tuesday, in Committee Council, a complementary proposal by council member Cr. Pablo Bovinowill be discussed, which seeks to deepen the comprehensive approach to these issues at the municipal level.
Support for Sports: Usage permit for the Club Hípico
Regarding urban infrastructure and sports, the legislative body resolved the situation of a property adjacent to the Club Hípico. Originally, said institution had donated the land to the municipality for the opening of Dr. Alda street, next to the hockey field.
Due to the fact that the project for the opening of the aforementioned thoroughfare was discarded, the Council approved granting the club the usage permit for this land. With this measure, the property will be formally incorporated as an extension of its sports infrastructure, optimizing the space for hockey practice and the club's social development.
"Concordia Produce": Boost to regional development
In the field of economic development, the ambitious exhibition "Concordia Produce"was declared of Municipal Interest, scheduled for October 23, 24, and 25, 2026 at the Parque Central Viñedos Moulins (Former North Station).
The event is positioned as an engine for regional growth under three central axes:
- Exhibition and Business Rounds: A bridge between companies, suppliers, and producers.
- Conference Cycle: Training space and academy with the participation of universities.
- Tourism Impact: It is estimated that more than 5,000 people, generating commercial dynamism and new job opportunities in the city.
Finally, the Council provided its institutional endorsement to various proposals that enrich the city's cultural and tourist agenda:
"La Arepa: A journey to Venezuela": This gastronomic workshop was declared of interest, which will take place in May 9th at the Tourist Information Center (Mitre and Pellegrini), promoting cultural exchange through cuisine.
"Between Tangos and Rivers": At the request of councilwoman Silvina Ovelar, the First "Between Tangos and Rivers" Meeting, to be held on the days May 23rd and 24th at the emblematic Tango Club (Saavedra 333), consolidating Concordia as a benchmark for Rioplatense culture.
TRIBUTESApícola Danangie: A historic milestone for local production
One of the most significant moments of the day was the intervention of councilman Dr. Felipe Sastre, who highlighted an unprecedented achievement for the regional industry. The Concordia-based firm Apícola Danangie, from the D’Ambros family, became the first company to receive the certificate of the Mercosur-European Union Agreement.
This milestone was materialized with the export of 22 tons of honey, formally inaugurating a new era within the framework of international agreements for the region's productive sector, with 0% tariffs. The motion for recognition was accompanied and celebrated by councilwoman Yaiza Pessolani, from the La Libertad Avanza bloc, underlining the importance of opening global markets for local producers.
Unanimous repudiation of political violence in Villa Gesell
Regarding institutional declarations, the councilwoman Silvina Ovelar took the floor to express her strongest repudiation of the attack and “intimidation” suffered by the Villa Gesell councilwoman, Clarisa Armando (PRO), by opposition sectors in that locality.
Ovelar described the event as "undemocratic" and a lack of extreme institutional gravity, considering that the attack occurred within a legislative chamber against a councilwoman elected by popular vote.
"No to violence", stated Ovelar, receiving the support of her bloc peers regarding the need to preserve respect and integrity in public institutions.
Concern over the labor situation at the former InVyTAM
On the other hand, the social and labor agenda was marked by the intervention of the councilwoman Carolina Amiano, who expressed the situation of the workers of the dissolved InVyTAM (Municipal Autonomous Housing and Land Institute).
Amiano stated that he verified the situation of the employees together with councilwoman Villalba.
Through the presidency, it was suggested that he submit a formal note requesting the presence of the president of the transition commission in the chamber.
To conclude, Claudia Villalba recalled that today, May 7, 2026, the 107th anniversary of the birth of María Eva Duarte de Perón, known as "Evita", is commemorated, highlighting the social assistance to the most vulnerable sectors.
