This Friday, the Board of Directors of the Carnival Entity, together with the Coordination of Popular Festivals of the Municipality, held a meeting with the representatives of the carnival groups that make up the city's main Carnival, to advance in the planning of the festival, evaluating alternatives and proposals that contribute to renewing the carnival passion, which remains intact.
The working meeting was held in the Mayors' Hall of the Municipal Palace and was attended by the four representatives of the city's carnival groups: the president of Comparsa Bella Samba, Leo Contavalle, the president of Comparsa Ráfaga "Chicky" Duimovich, the president of Comparsa Imperio Cristian Timón, and the president of Comparsa Emperatriz Eduardo Cristina.
“The decision of Mayor Alfredo Francolini is that, always taking into account the Protocols and adapting to the epidemiological situation, we can move forward together with the Coordination of Popular Festivals and the carnival groups on definitions that allow us to begin organizing the most passionate festival of the summer in Concordia” commented the executive director of the Carnival Entity, Miguel Guitar.
Subsequently, Guitar stated that “it was a very positive meeting where the presidents of the groups presented their situations, the impact of costs, and what it costs to stage a carnival group of the level we are accustomed to” and remarked that “on behalf of the Carnival Entity, we presented new projects and our intentions to plan the festival and possible lines of work”.
“We will continue to have meetings and permanent communication with each of the carnival groups, so that together we can continue to keep the passion alive, but above all take care of ourselves due to the global pandemic we are experiencing”, stated the head of the Carnival Entity.
At the meeting, information was also provided on the cycle of free virtual training sessions that will continue to be developed in parallel with the organization of the festival, among other topics on which the presidents of the carnival groups spoke.
For his part, Cristian Timón, president of Comparsa Imperio, valued that “it was a very positive meeting; our proposal was to present to the Carnival Entity some budgets and costs that have been modified from the last carnival to date” and emphasized that “it is also important that we continue to take care of ourselves and that the epidemiological conditions are met so that the public and all of us can enjoy the festival”.
In the same vein, "Chicky" Duimovich, president of Comparsa Ráfaga, commented on the importance of being able to start planning the 2022 Carnival, expressing that “although we are in a difficult scenario, we believe we have the support of the members so that they can make their costumes and participate”.
In addition, the representative of the tricolor group stated that “the four carnival groups want a carnival and I believe that by working together with the Carnival Entity we can move forward so that this festival is not lost, which is one of the most important in the city of Concordia”.
Likewise, the meeting was the appropriate setting to inform about the current composition of the Carnival Entity, integrated by Miguel Guitar as executive director, Verónica Kinderknecht, Coordinator of Administration and Budget, Mercedes Móndolo, Coordinator of Competition, and Ramón Ayala as Coordinator of Premises and Services.
