This Monday morning, the mayor Francisco Azcué participated in the 2025 school year opening ceremony held at Secondary School No. 16 “Profesor Gerardo Victorín” together with the Departmental Director of Schools Julio Barrios and the principal of the host educational institution, Iris Mattio.
Addressing those present, Azcué expressed his admiration and respect “for the teachers who dedicate their lives to the noble task of educating, which is not only about transmitting knowledge but also doing so with love,” affirming that “education is the most powerful tool for transformation.”
In that sense, he stated that “whenever you need us, the municipality will be there, because it does not matter if the jurisdiction is provincial, municipal, or national. The young people and teachers who attend the schools are from Concordia. The municipality will be contributing in everything we can,” he remarked.
In turn, the Departmental Director of Schools Julio Barrios, after wishing for a good school year and urging the students to strive to achieve their goals, highlighted the joint work with the teachers and supervisors.
He also thanked the support of the Municipality of Concordia, which, through different areas, collaborated with various tasks in different schools in the city.
For her part, Mattio, after recalling the different steps that were taken so that today the secondary school can have a gymnasium, highlighted the work that teachers do daily and the support they have received from the municipality: “We have to work as a team,” she stressed.
