"This Gobernador Cresto street, Eva Perón Avenue, Monseñor Rösch, the 015, the Frondizi, the entire micro-center, the Costanera, Salto Uruguayo, among other streets, are the access routes to Concordia and are the streets used by tourists and the families of Concordia every weekend when they go out for a walk," indicated the mayor. For this reason, he maintained, "we are launching today with this work, this Urban Beautification Program, which consists of different stages," announced Cresto. The planned investment will be approximately 200 million pesos in total.
During the inauguration of the works, athletic demonstrations and tests were carried out, organized by the Sports Secretariat, thus accompanying in an articulated manner the work carried out by the Secretariat of Public Works and Services of the municipality. In dialogue with the residents, the mayor detailed the works that were done on that street and that will be done in the so-called "T" Zone (Tourist). "We are going to continue with the road improvement program, the solidarity financing program and other programs that we can carry out today because we put the Municipality's Asphalt Plant back into operation, and today we have crews performing asphalt, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, throughout the city," he said. "And we are also doing joint sealing, which seems like a minor thing, but if this is not done, the asphalt lasts much less," he added.
"We are launching an Urban Tree Planting Plan that we are going to execute in the next two years, which is a program that we presented to the CFI and that we prepared with great care, looking at the needs of the city, of the environment, to beautify the city and at the same time improve the quality of life of all Concordia residents, respecting our native flora," he explained.
"We are going to install LED lighting for more than 10 million pesos, which we have already begun to do. This will mean better lighting, greater care for the environment and significant economic savings. But we reached an agreement with the National Government. Because the sodium fixtures that we are removing where we install LED lights are useful for us to reach more neighborhoods in the city that also need better lighting, so 50% of the sodium fixtures that we remove will be used in the neighborhoods where there is the greatest need, because we are working for the whole city, for all Concordia residents," affirmed Cresto.
"In these two years, we have carried out significant expenditure control and managed public resources with extreme efficiency, which allowed us to buy the necessary machinery. Today we have the machines, we have the gravel and now we have the weather that accompanies us. That is why we also launched a program, until the month of March, for gravelling the 500 main blocks, which are the access routes to schools and those used by bus lines. We are improving the road layout throughout the city, with great effort and commitment from every municipal employee," highlighted the mayor.
Accompanying the inauguration of the works carried out on Gobernador Cresto Avenue, which included street paving, installation of LED lighting, road marking and joint sealing, among other works, were Provincial Deputy Alejandro Bahler, the vice-mayor and president of the Deliberative Council Armando Gay, the Secretary of Public Works and Services Jorge Mendieta, the Secretary of Sports Marcelo Cresto, the president of the PJ Councilors' Bloc Alberto Armanazqui, among other municipal officials and presidents of neighborhood commissions.
