This morning, during the cabinet meeting, Mayor Francisco Azcué raised the need to move forward with a salary freeze for all political appointees. The measure is part of the reduction of public spending in the face of the drop in national tax co-participation revenue.
The mayor underscored the need for politics to set an example and requested “gestures of support from officials toward society and employees,” mentioning the salary freeze measure as an effort that legitimizes the administration. Likewise, he asked those present for “commitment and greatness,” acknowledging that “everyone is part of the administration and we must support each other for the common good.”
“We are dedicated to managing resources responsibly, taking into account the drop in revenue. We understand that the effort must come from politics, which is why I proposed to the secretaries and undersecretaries to move forward with freezing the salaries of all officials and in this way maintain fiscal balance and ensure the provision of services to our residents,” noted Azcué.
The Juntos por Entre Ríos councilor bloc also joined the measure, adhering to the proposal and will freeze their allowances.
During the cabinet meeting, the objective of continuing to strengthen an efficient administration was also reiterated, which allows for sustaining essential public services and moving forward with the infrastructure works that the city needs.
