The Traffic and Transport Directorate of the Municipality of Concordia filed a criminal complaint with the Justice system for alleged fraud and forgery of public documents, after detecting social media posts offering driver's licenses in exchange for money outside of official channels.
The filing was made by the area director, Emanuel Galli, who warned that “these maneuvers are absolutely illegal and put the entire community at risk, because those who buy a fake license not only commit a crime, but also drive without the corresponding training or controls.”
As detailed in the complaint, the detected offers included the processing of licenses “without an appointment” or “without an exam” and used fake names and images that simulated belonging to the municipality. “No person outside the Traffic Directorate is authorized to manage, sell, or mediate in the issuance of licenses. Every procedure must be carried out in the official offices, with a prior appointment and the mandatory exams,” stressed Galli.
The official also called on the population to exercise extreme caution regarding potential scams: “We want to alert residents so they are not deceived. If someone offers you a driver's license through social media or private messages, it is a scam. Please report it immediately.”
The municipality reminded that driver's license procedures are carried out exclusively at the Traffic Directorate and that all official information is available on the social media and the website of the Municipality of Concordia.
