The Undersecretariat of Health of the Municipality recalled the prevention measures and recommendations against dengue and other diseases, with the aim of controlling the mosquito population and strengthening awareness about the importance of household cleanliness to prevent the spread of the vector.
In this regard, the Undersecretary of Health, Dr. Florencia Prieto, began by explaining that “due to the intense rains and storms, there were certain prevention activities that could not be carried out, such as fumigation operations, so the objective is to try to control the vector, which is the mosquito that transmits the infection.” Therefore, she highlighted the importance of “renewing the care instructions since we have other infections that involve mosquitoes such as zoonosis, and the ways to prevent them are the same.”
The Director of Primary Care, Emanuel Soriano, stated that “in case of having symptoms, you should go to the Primary Care Center closest to your home; they have professionals trained to resolve any type of doubt you may have regarding the symptomatology presented by the patient. We are working on probable outbreak sites, providing the population with measures in order to prevent this pathology.” At the same time, he added that “through brochures and all existing communication channels, we are going to transmit all the information and bring peace of mind to households.”
PREVENTION MEASURES
You should not expose yourself outdoors during certain hours of the day when there is more mosquito vector movement. In case you have to be exposed, it is advised to wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants to have greater coverage. In addition to the use of repellent that protects against mosquito bites.
It is very important to keep patios clean, avoiding the accumulation of water in any container one may have. If you have pets, it is advised to dump the water and clean their container daily because those are the places where they deposit their eggs. Prevent the mosquito from entering homes with some wire mesh that can prevent it.
