In the 25 de Mayo square, the presentation of the “El Mercado en tu Barrio” program was held, which, through coordination between the local and national government, promotes the activities of the so-called social economy. “I want to thank the national officials and Congresswoman Yanina Gayol, who, from the very first moment we began working on this proposal, did everything in their power to implement it as quickly as possible,” expressed Mayor Enrique Cresto after the signing of the agreement.
“Concordia has the Popular Market, the Itinerant Fair, among other social economy fair proposals. But by establishing this agreement with the National Government, the work carried out by so many residents of Concordia is strengthened,” noted the mayor.
And he observed that “the majority of the fruit and vegetables consumed in Concordia come from Santa Fe or other places. Concordia has fertile land and people who are willing to work. Therefore, what the State must do is coordinate and act as a facilitator of programs and proposals to take advantage of all the development potential that the region has,” emphasized Cresto.
Luis Levin, national coordinator of the “El Mercado en tu Barrio” program, from the Undersecretariat of Food and Beverages of the National Ministry of Agroindustry, commented that “the authors of the project are the municipalities; what we provide is the infrastructure, support, and accompaniment to carry out the initiative. The municipality also provides the public space, logistics, and food safety controls.”
In this sense, the national official explained that the objective of this program is “for the population to be able to access quality products at preferential prices by shortening the price formation chain, and providing the opportunity for local producers to access a point of sale, increasing their production and improving it.”
For her part, National Congresswoman Yanina Gayol sent a special greeting to the vendors from Buenos Aires, where she did not hesitate to point out, “it fills me with pride and emotion that today we have been able to ensure that the residents of Concordia can access a varied offer of quality products at affordable prices; that producers can offer their products with the benefits that shortening the commercial chain implies.”
The national legislator from Entre Ríos also stated that “today we have an innovative State that works by and for the people. One that manages to bring products with higher quality and better prices to the residents; diversify the offer; equalize opportunities, generating greater inclusion and transparency in the processes.”
The signing of the agreement and the presentation of the program were also attended by the Director of the Municipal Agency for Promotion and Productive Development, Lorena Nicolini, members of the Municipal Council of the Social Economy, and representatives of micro-entrepreneurs, among others.
