The call, which took place this Tuesday at the CIC Camba Paso, was an initiative of the municipality's Sexual and Reproductive Health Coordination area, led by Dr. Marina Galouye in conjunction with the Health Secretariat. It was attended by all the patients who had requested it.
“In many cases, patients do not complete the procedure because they have to attend other healthcare centers further away from where we are, which is why the proposal was to do it today in this space that operates in the neighborhood,” noted Claudia Maidana, coordinator of the CIC Camba Paso.
“What we did from our space was to talk beforehand, explain what this contraceptive method is about, dialogue with each of the women, and provide prior counseling, in order to establish with each patient the best methods for self-care,” she indicated.
The idea is for the municipality to provide this opportunity and for women to feel supported, because it is understood that it is important for them to make inquiries to take care of their health and that of their entire family, and to use the resources available at the Community Integration Center, which would be unaffordable if they had to pay for them. Likewise, it should be highlighted that through this method, the prevention of unwanted pregnancies is made easier for them. “We had 100% attendance, so it has been a very good turnout,” indicated Maidana.
For her part, Licentiate Ana Paula Vila, Director of Primary Health Care, expressed that this approach takes place within the framework of this commemoration, from the municipal administration's interest in caring for each of the patients who attend the Health Centers.
In that sense, on Monday and Tuesday, these chips were placed completely free of charge. Working to meet a demand, in an area where a great deal of effort is being made to enhance this place and also developing a policy of care and valuation of Public Health, which is a premise that our mayor Enrique Cresto always sets for us, understanding it as a right of all inhabitants and that it is very important that those rights are fulfilled”
Also, regarding women's health rights and sexual and reproductive and non-reproductive health, it is noteworthy that the entire community knows that they can access care programs and obtain different prevention devices such as oral contraceptives, injectables, implants, or an IUD, and that all Health centers can provide them.
For his part, the Secretary of Health, Mauro García, explained: “we are developing this action in one of the most peripheral areas of Concordia, where we provide public policies for those residents who cannot reach the city or other centers. And here we are present with the Municipality and with the best resources to ensure the care of reproductive sexual health “
Marina Galouye, coordinator of the municipality's Sexual and Reproductive Health area, reported that this department was created by decision of Dr. Mauro García, Secretary of Health, and Ana Paula Vila, Director of Primary Care, with the objective of managing the different policies aimed at caring for the health of patients, since there was a high municipal tax of pregnancy in general and adolescent pregnancy that was particularly worrying.
“Over the years we can say that this index has dropped significantly, first the birth rate and also adolescent pregnancy. Our objective, in this sense, is to coordinate with the provincial Ministry of Health to increase the stock of long-acting contraceptive methods, which are the ones we most recommend using in adolescents. Generally, it is those under 23 years of age who are fitted with single-rod implants, and very recently we have had two-rod implants, which are those that amplify the age range”
As Galouye explained, this is a method that has many benefits for patients, since it allows them not to have to be constantly monitoring, or not having to attend the Health Center on a monthly basis to pick up their contraceptives, “which is why it has quite a lot of adherence,” she concluded.
