Starting this Friday, the spirit of King Momo takes over the city. From Friday to Sunday, you can enjoy the start of the 2017 carnival season, with the inaugural parades of both the Pequeños Duendes Carnival and the main Carnival at the Atanasio Bonfiglio Corsódromo.
Undoubtedly, the Carnival moves the city. Not only because this weekend there will be three consecutive nights of carnival festivities, but because for months, hundreds of families and residents of the city have begun to rehearse, embroider costumes, and tune instruments, awaiting the arrival of this day. A social and cultural activity, deeply rooted in the neighborhoods, and which has high growth potential to consolidate itself as the main tourist attraction of the summer, which would boost the local economy. For this very reason, the mayor Enrique Cresto promotes joint work between different areas of the municipality and also with institutions and the private sector, so that "this year the carnival consolidates itself as a popular spectacle of excellence".
This Friday at 8:00 PM, at the Costanera of Concordia, the 11 children's troupes of the city will kick off an edition of the Pequeños Duendes. All the joy of the Concordia carnival's youth will parade along the Costanera avenue, in a free show to enjoy as a family. There are more than twelve hundred children from different neighborhoods who make up the different troupes of the popular carnival. The following day, Saturday, January 21, the first moon of the battle of passions will begin, with Unisur, Bella Samba, Imperio, Ráfaga, and Emperatriz. The corsódromo grounds will open at 9:00 PM, and after the inaugural ribbon-cutting, the show of colors, rhythm, and sensations of the Carnival of Concordia will begin.
For the first night, the price of advance tickets is $100, while at the door they will cost $150. Children from 2 to 12 years old pay $50, and children under 2 pay an insurance fee of $20. Meanwhile, retirees presenting their ID card will be able to purchase tickets for the first night at the venue's box office on the same Saturday for $50.
