Concordia prepares to end February with a varied cultural proposal for different audiences throughout the long weekend, where the carnival will be the central theme in all its expressions. Within the framework of a policy of strong support for artistic and cultural expressions promoted by mayor Enrique Cresto, linking them with the tourist and social development of the city, Concordia closes the month with pure culture and carnival.
Carnival, from Friday to Tuesday
Friday begins a weekend where the carnival will be the protagonist. All the artistic and aesthetic expressions of a cultural festival with deep roots in the popular tradition of the region will have their space to culminate in the "burial of the carnival".
On Friday, February 24, the Pequeños Duendes Carnival will parade through the streets of La Bianca. Starting at 8:00 PM, all the joy and color of the popular children's carnival will finish its tour through the neighborhoods. Then, on Sunday the 26th, all the troupes of the Pequeños Duendes Carnival will arrive at the Concordia Corsódromo for their last great night of this 2017 edition. In the case of the parade at the Corsódromo of the Pequeños Duendes Carnival, admission is free by bringing a school supply that will be destined for children with limited resources.
The Concordia Carnival will also have its last two nights of parades. On Saturday the 25th, starting at 10:00 PM, Unisur, Imperio, Bella Samba, Rafaga, and Emperatriz will parade on the track. Then, the 2017 edition of the battle of passions will say goodbye on Monday, February 27, closing an edition that marked the growth of the festival with more passion, glamour, and rhythm in the region.
On Sunday, as a prelude to the Popular Carnival of Joy, the murga Los Desorbitados del Puerto celebrates its first year of life with a murguera party, workshops, games, and raffles, starting at 5:00 PM at the Estación de la Cultura (former Central Station). The party will last until late at night, marking the beginning of the carnival holidays.
On Monday the 27th, the Carnival Tablado will be held, with free access, at Plaza Urquiza, starting at 8:00 PM. Previously, there will be free workshops. Different artists from Concordia and the region will take the stage, and it will be possible to dance, sing, and enjoy murgas, candombe, and Latin American folklore.
Ending an intense weekend and as a corollary to a special month, on Tuesday, February 28, as tradition dictates, the Burial of the Carnival will be held, with a popular parade of masks and costumes to say goodbye to King Momo, starting at 8:00 PM from Plaza Urquiza to Plaza 25 de Mayo. Murgas, carnival groups, and troupes will participate in the parade, and all those who wish to participate are invited to do so freely.
