The service will begin to normalize as the filling of the distribution network is completed. “Around 35 million pesos were invested in tasks that are essential for the proper provision of the service in the city,” stated Mayor Azcué.
This Saturday, Mayor Francisco Azcué was at the Water Treatment Plant where the Decentralized Entity of Sanitary Works (EDOS) carried out maintenance work with the aim of improving the service.
The tasks, which began on Friday, included the cleaning and disinfection of cisterns and storage tanks; technical tasks on the distribution network, intervening at strategic points to optimize the system's operation, especially in areas with higher demand, such as the La Bianca and Pampa Soler neighborhoods.
The distribution network was cleaned in key sectors to reduce turbidity levels generated by the accumulation of sediment in the pipes, a result of the general state of the network.
The repair and replacement of sluice valves were also executed in different parts of the city, which will allow for better regulation of flow and pressure, an action that is extremely important to prevent future interruptions and ensure a more efficient distribution of the service.

In this regard, Azcué stated that these works, in addition to being necessary for the correct operation of the plant, were able to be executed “thanks to the responsibility of the taxpayers. Around 35 million pesos were invested in tasks that are essential for the proper provision of the service in the city”.
The Mayor also highlighted the work of all the areas and workers of EDOS who, with great responsibility, were at the forefront of the different actions, both before this weekend and during the two days in which work was carried out.
Javier Del Cerro, head of the Decentralized Entity of Sanitary Works, explained that this type of work must be carried out every year, “in a programmed manner and on dates when consumption is not as high. This intervention was planned in advance and was truly necessary to continue improving our function in the community”.
William Sosa, Operations Manager of EDOS, explained that in addition to the cleaning of the 10,000 m3 cistern, the channels, and the sediment tanks, “at the plant, one of the booster pumps that had not received preventive maintenance for more than 3 years was replaced”.
Regarding the replacement of valves, Sosa indicated that “during the year, the supply had to be interrupted due to contingencies that were arising in the distribution network, and these works are necessary precisely to prevent these situations”.
Finally, regarding the normalization of the service, it was emphasized that this will happen over the coming hours as the plant's pumping process reaches maximum levels and the distribution network is filled.
