The Municipality of Concordia, through the Department of Social Economy, continues to promote food sovereignty and community development through the implementation of family gardens with an agroecological approach.
The Head of the Department of Social Economy, Miguel Parra, and Engineer Gabriel Zubizarreta visited the Tavella Sur neighborhood, where they carried out activities in two key spaces:
School No. 4 “Lavardén”: An educational talk was given to 5th-grade students, addressing the importance of agroecological gardens and their impact on healthy eating and environmental care.
“Carita Sucia” Community Kitchen: Training was offered to residents of the neighborhood on the creation and maintenance of family gardens, with the aim of encouraging the production of healthy food and strengthening household economies.
In both places, seedlings were delivered to start crops in each home.
“From the Municipality, we promote these types of initiatives because we believe in the transformative power of the social economy. A garden not only provides food, it also generates autonomy, shared knowledge, and a sense of community,” stated Parra.
The day is part of a program that seeks to expand the participation of residents in sustainable practices, strengthening the bond between the State and the community.
For more information, interested parties can go to the offices of the Directorate of Cooperativism and Associativism, located on the first floor of the Civic Center of Concordia (Mitre and Pellegrini), from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
