The Mayors Ricardo Bravo, of Federación and José Luis Walser, of Colón, expressed their support and enthusiasm for the arrival of the company Humming Airways, following the presentation to operate the Concordia-Buenos Aires air route once the “Comodoro JJ Pierrestegui” Airport is operational.
Bravo highlighted the importance of this initiative promoted from Concordia, stating that “we are very happy because it was what we had been waiting for. Personally, I thanked Mayor Francisco Azcué for having taken the initiative to start operating with an airline. This will mark a turning point in the development of our region,” he affirmed.
The Mayor of Federación underscored the need to work together and strengthen the concept of a region since “we have to align efforts between the municipalities of Salto Grande, add more localities and even integrate Salto because we share similar tourist characteristics. It is time to leave behind old forms of competition and understand that what reaches the region benefits everyone.”
In the same vein, the Mayor of Colón, José Luis Walser, celebrated the announcement and valued the positive impact it will have for the Uruguay River corridor. “It is fundamental for the development that we, the mayors of the region, propose. From Colón and the micro-region, we plan to become an international tourist destination, and an airport with scheduled flights for September is a central tool for that objective,” he assured.
Likewise, he added that “this does not only depend on demand, but also on joint work. We have been collaborating on tourism promotion actions and generating conditions to attract visitors who, by choosing us, leave resources in our territories. This progress is the result of collective work, strongly promoted by Francisco Azcué.”
In that sense, the mayors agreed that the Salto Grande region has great potential to consolidate itself as an integrated tourist destination, both nationally and internationally, and that air connectivity will be a decisive factor in achieving that objective.
