Organized by the Polska Civil Association, with the support of the Undersecretariat of Sports of the Municipality of Concordia, next Saturday, May 17, “The Family Walk” will take place.
The starting point will be at the roundabout of Av. Coldaroli and Av. Costanera Norte, at 3:30 PM, and it will conclude at the San Juan Pablo II Square, located at Néstor Garat and Av. Costanera Norte, Nebel beach.
The initiative is part of the commemoration of the birth of Karol Wojtyła (John Paul II), born on May 18, 1920, in the year marking the 20th anniversary of his passing.
Participants are invited to collaborate by donating non-perishable food items. These will be collected during the activity and subsequently delivered to institutions that assist people in need.
JOHN PAUL II
Pope John Paul II, of Polish origin, was a tireless defender of the rights of children, youth, and the elderly. As an athlete, he practiced hiking, skiing, swimming, and canoeing, using sports as a means of fostering values such as friendship, personal improvement, and character building.
He was the only Pope to attend a soccer match. Furthermore, he was a spiritual leader recognized and respected throughout the world, even by political and religious leaders.
With his words “The family, the place where one learns to love and to be loved,” John Paul II left a clear message about the importance of the family nucleus in the life of every human being.
Therefore, this sporting activity, open to the entire community, aims to create a space for unity, reflection, and solidarity, respecting values and generating a climate of brotherhood.
