The Administrative Commission for the Salto Grande Fund (Cafesg) and the Ministry of Health held an intense workday this Monday, which combined the opening of envelopes for two public tenders and the supervision of the start of works at the Felipe Heras hospital in Concordia. Mayor Francisco Azcué accompanied the tour of the local hospital.
The agenda, focused on the school and hospital infrastructure improvement plan in the region, began at the Cafesg headquarters in Concordia, with the opening of bids for two strategic works that represent a total investment of over 880 million pesos: the construction of the new Oncology and Hemotherapy sector of the Justo José de Urquiza hospital, in Concepción del Uruguay, and the renovation of the Male Inpatient ward of the San Benjamín hospital, in Colón.
The first of these is vital to meet the demand of oncology patients on the Uruguay coast and its official budget (as of June 2025) is over 609 million pesos; the second includes the total replacement of the roof and ceilings, waterproofing of slabs, and complete renovation of the electrical installation in the pavilion, for a value (as of last July) of over 270 million pesos.
The Secretary General of the Government, Mauricio Colello, highlighted the importance of these tenders by stating: "Each opening of envelopes represents a concrete step in the improvement of the public health system. These works not only mean investment and employment, but also a clear political decision to strengthen hospital infrastructure throughout the province, guaranteeing more quality and dignity in care for the people of Entre Ríos".

Subsequently, the authorities moved to the Felipe Heras hospital, where they inspected the start of the renovation works for the Medical Boards and STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections) sectors, a project already awarded and in full execution that will require an investment of over 147 million pesos.
The president of Cafesg, Carlos Cecco, highlighted the work alongside the Ministry of Health to carry out the infrastructure improvement plan: "These two hospitals where works are being tendered are in addition to the Felipe Heras, where we went to tour the start of works, and are added to three other health establishments in which we are already intervening or have been tendered, such as the San José hospital, in the homonymous city; the Bartolomé Giacomotti health center, in Concepción del Uruguay, and the San José hospital, in Federación, which is close to being awarded".
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health, Daniel Blanzaco, noted: "The joint work we have been doing with Cafesg is very important, and now also with the new management team of the Felipe Heras hospital, in Concordia, which has a building that requires maintenance and updating". Likewise, he referred to the opening of tender envelopes for other important works in the hospitals of Colón (to refunctionalize the men's ward) and Concepción del Uruguay (to move the Oncology and Hemotherapy services to the ground floor).
Mayor Francisco Azcué emphasized the importance of the destination given to resources as in this case, from Cafesg: “This is a decision by Governor Rogelio Frigerio that we celebrate from Concordia because they are important works for our city and improve the quality of life of our residents. Today it is in the hospital but the same is also being done in schools and other institutions. The dialogue with the Province is daily and it is a way of working that is deepening with more actions and responses to the demands of the community”.
The agenda also included the participation of Cafesg board members Martín Dri, Pablo Canali, and Marcelo Bisogni; provincial senator Ramiro Favre (remotely); deputy Marcelo López; the mayor of Colón, José Luis Walser; the Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Concordia Diego Sauré, plus directors of Hospitals and Hospital Material Resources and Primary Health Care Centers, among others.
